Simon Says Stamp Choose Joy

Hello, it's Saturday and the weather in SC is sunny and lovely!  Last night I couldn't sleep, I tossed and turned and finally gave in, came downstairs and started coloring. Who else suffers from insomnia?  It's awful isn't it?  However, if I channel it into coloring, eventually I'll get sleepy again and put my projects on hold until morning.  With clearer eyes I was able to finish this card and I love it!

I just received the latest kit from SSS yesterday and I couldn't wait to create something using the Choose Joy set. Fortunately you can purchase this stamp set separate, as the kit is now sold out. I've linked below for your convenience.

I ended up randomly stamping the pink flowers and the greenery around my cut out cardstock.  I went around all the images with muti shades of grey.  I colored the flowers and leaves, then did a splatter of 50/50 acrylic black and white paint and water mixed.  I heat embossed the beautiful sentiment in white on a black banner and added a few pink glitter dots.  I should also mention that I popped the banner and orange flowers up using foam tape and I love the dimension!

Here are my Copic combinations:

Around the images use C5-C0, the darkest color first, touching the lines of the images, then blend it out to lightest color.

Pink Flowers: E09, RV34, R43, R32, R21
Orange Flowers: YR16, YR15, YR12 and RV34 and R21 in the center
Greenery: BG96, YG17, YG25, Y18

Thanks for stopping, I hope you've enjoyed my project, I would love to hear from you on what you think!

Newton's Nook Designs Jennifer Jackson Surprise Birthday Blog Hop!

Hi everyone! Today the NND team and I are SOOO excited to be surprising Jennifer Jackson, owner of Newton's Nook Designs with a SURPRISE birthday blog hop!  Jennifer is one of the nicest, kindest people I've had the pleasure of working with and for.  So it makes this even more special to be able to wish her a Happy, Happy Birthday!!! And thank her for allowing me to be part of this extra special team!

I've not seen any of the cards/projects the team has created ahead of time, so I'm super excited to take this hop right along with you!  For your convenience I have the team list and links below.  Make sure you leave comments on all the blogs for your chance to WIN!!!

So, here's my card I made for Jen, this should be in her mailbox today!  I decided to go with an older NND set that maybe hasn't gotten much love lately.  Being that Jen and I are both Wisconsin girls, I thought I would make a card using this super adorable farm set called Farmyard Friends.  These little critters are precious surrounding the farmer, don't you think?

I started by copic coloring and fussy cutting the characters.  I inked the sky with a light blue/green ink and a light yellow, I thought this made for a pretty sky. I cut the clouds out of NND Sky Borders Dies and the grass from NND Land Borders Dies then used a circle die to cut the sun out of some tiny polkadotted paper.  I used a little yellow paint cut with water to paint the dandelions onto the grass.  A few glitter dots and my card was finished!

Newton's Nook Designs February Release - Day 4

Woof, woof!!, we've made it to day 4 and you know what that means.  All these fun new products will be in the shop tomorrow!  So, what do you think of this awesome stamp set, Woof Pack?  You know we couldn't release a Company of Cats without some puppy representation too!

I've been seeing this technique around where you cut a shape out of a panel stamp and highlight the cut out with color.  This was fun!  I wanted to show off some pinks and blues and I thought this turned out pretty neat!

Make sure you visit all the blogs and leave your comments to WIN!  See below for details!

Newton's Nook Designs February Release - Day 3

Hi everyone!  It's day 3 of the Newton's Nook Designs and we're showing off this really amazing stamp set, Company of Cats today.  Wow, what a great collection of feline friends all hanging out together!

I decided to try something new and that's working with pencils.  I enjoyed the challenge of making each kitty look different!  I ended up taking the Pawprints stencil and stenciling all over in different directions and it reminded me of a leopard print, so I went with it under my colored panel, I thought it really made all the kitties stand out!

I just love release weeks, it's so much fun to see what the team has created!  Thanks for stopping and enjoy!!!

Newton's Nook Designs February Release - Day 2

Day 2 already of the February release at NND and I am SOO excited to show you these "Bitty Bunnies", are they not the sweetest most darling bunnies? I just love the different poses!  So much you can do with these little guys, but I wanted to show them off in a spring scene, enjoying the fresh green grass that I cut from the Land Borders die set and stenciled with Tumbling Hearts!

The sky was stenciled with the newest in the NND stencil collection, Cloudy Sky.  I did a very faint tone on tone, which looks much like what a spring sky would look like.  This is such a cute little set and I know you will enjoy it in your collection!
Keep scrolling for your chance to win!!!

Deer Friend Newton's Nook Designs

Hello, I hope everyone is doing well!  Today I'm on the Newton's Nook Designs blog with a card I've made using this sweet stamp/die set called Deer Friend. This set was part of the January release, and one of my new favorites!

I drew my inspiration from the weather, it's been a bit gloomy and rainy lately.  I really love days like that.  I listen to podcasts and drink hot tea while coloring up these sweet little Newton's images!  So I brought out the grey inks and cardstock!

I used Zig pens to color the deer and flowers and the background was inked with Hickory Smoke Distress ink.

I white heat embossed the sentiment on a dark grey banner and then arranged all my images on the panel/scalloped background from the Frames and Flags Die Set

Thanks for stopping by, I love hearing from you, so don't hesitate to leave a comment!

Sweet Treats Blog Hop Newton's Nook Designs

Hello and a very happy Friday to you all!  Today I'm celebrating with the whole team over at Newton's Nook Designs! You should have arrived from the Newton's Nook Blog, if not, please see below for a list of participants so you won't miss a thing!  Remember to comment on all the blogs for a chance to win, see below for the details!

For my Sweet Treats project I made some tags with the Fancy Edges Tag Die Set.  I adore this tag set, with 4 different edges you can use to create a topper or a unique bottom on your tag.  Plus the 3 different grommets really makes this tag set so versatile, it's a must have in my tag die collection! I used the stamp and die set called Newton's Sweetheart Dies Here from the January release as my main images.  Don't you love that Newton has a girlfriend?  I also added the little love die cut from the Darling Hearts die set. The tags were finished off with a bit of cord and twine!

I sure hope you've enjoyed my Sweet Treats tags and will try creating some for all your special Valentines!

Before I'm done here, I'd like to share a photo of another Sweet Treat!  This last week, finally the kitten we rescued back in September, (Ashe), and our rescue dog Scout, decided to become friends long enough to warm by the fire.  Scout was terrified of this little kitty for so long! I've been picking up on hints that they may become friends and it finally happened a few nights ago!  We have peace and harmony in the animal kingdom.  Wishing the same for your home as well!
