Happy Monday, omgosh I've got a lot of work to do today, not the fun kind either. So before I dive into that, I grabbed a cup of hot black coffee and decided to show off a card I made last night using this AWESOME new Birch Tree die by Gina Marie Designs.
I'd initially planned to make a night or winter scene with this cluster of birch, but my mind was drawn back to days on the farm, in that grove of birch trees with the sun streaming down onto the browning earth. The fall air was crisp and most of the leaves had fallen.
I masked off the frame and then sponged on some Weathered Wood distress ink. Then I mixed some Black Soot distress ink and water and flicked it with a stiff brush on the trees to create a birch-like pattern. Short of sitting and painting on the stripes, I think this gives a real-ish effect and doesn't take nearly the amount of time.
I had a lovely time creating this scene! I've linked the products below for your shopping convenience. I hope you all have a wonderful day and leave a comment, I'd love to hear from you!
