Challenge #15 at The Cutting Edge

I'm a month into this blogging thing and I'm enjoying myself, I'm learning new things all the time! So today, on a happy Saturday, I've decided to jump into the world of challenges. This is my first and I'm certain not last.

I've decided to participate in The Cutting Edge Challenge https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglywoUk3cYY-v1pR7jECaNFSSz7phhSjwdzrRYmo1HN5NqecjM7dfbpfD6EuA5PfpSYAgLup4dP9fBpZhxpNrpxQgK5hGZcKszEX9zfdRqOf1QPvqF-qpoKXI-27U19L-WnacsMQEGC1Cc/s1600/TCEC_15.png and sadly have found, that #15 will be their last.  I appreciate the opportunity to participate though!

I had a lot of fun putting this card together.  My inspiration came from the design and content of the example project above. Starting with my snowflake, which is the Stitched Snowflake by PTI, I layered it with another, smaller Sizzix snowflake and then a little white snowflake embellishment by Reflections on top.  My base is Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, and the strips were cut using MFT Vertical Stitched Strips dies. The cardstock is GinaK Blue Denim and Pink Paislee Merry and Bright.

I wanted the middle stripe to look like a candy cane, I love how it's sandwiched between the blue stripes, it really stands out! I dusted the Stitched Snowflake with glitter and hit the tips with PTI Fresh Snow ink to give it a frosty look.  Lastly I used a sentiment from Ornaments4Life by Stamps for Life and some Blue Jean Tiny Pearls by Doodlebug.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, please leave me a comment, I so appreciate your feedback!

Friday nights all right for Stampin!

Hello weekend!  So happy that it's Friday and we're in safely for the night.  I've been working on my holiday cards today and have nothing to post here yet..so for now I thought I'd share one of my fav all time cards.  I made this last year for my baby brother on his 41st birthday.

First off, I've got something about old trucks.  My husband happens to own a 1959 Chevy Truck with the step sides and wood slatted bed.  It's pretty darned awesome, I have to admit!  He found it while driving on the backroads of Alabama and bought it from the original owner!  After doing a little research, we found that the red paint job was not original.  This gorgeous turquoise is!  Now I'm finding myself seeking out old truck stamps and coloring them turqoise!  I think I'm trying to send him subliminal messages to return the truck to it's original glory!

This stamp set is titled Loads of Love by Stampin Up.  There was no trailer in that set, just the truck. So I masked off the front of the truck image, inked up the rear end and stamped it again behind the truck.  I finished it by drawing in the front end of the trailer and a little hitch!  I had to have a way to tow all these puppies!  Paper by Basic Grey and PTI.  Image colored by Copic, (and me of course).

Christmas Tag Crazy

Crazy about sums it up..I'm currently in a christmas tag swap and I signed up for 3 different groups so that I'd receive back a big variety to put on all my packages.  I think I overdid it just a little bit as I made approx 10 each of the 6 designs.

The top 2 tags are #1 Paper Smooches (love that snowman) and #2 Stamps for Life Ornaments blinged up with a little liquid pearls.  The middle row is #1 a Marianne Tree die on top of wide washi and a Calico Studios wooden snowflake and #2 Lil'Inkers dies that made up the poinsettia and joy.  Finally, in the third row #1, I used the Avery Elle set to stamp out the birch trees (my favorite tree in the world), with red bird and sentiment, #2 is PTI stitched snowflake layered with 2 other snowflakes sitting on top of a SimonSaysStamps heat embossed border.

I have thoroughly enjoyed making these holiday tags and cannot wait for my swap partners to receive!  Now onto my holiday cards!

Here's a quick project I put together today.  I'm in a swap on one of my Facebook groups and the theme is "cats".  I remembered I had this sweet little Magenta stamp, I think this scene is so adorable!  After I'd gotten the image mounted, I began looking for a sentiment, but nothing seemed to fit!  I couldn't very well say "thanks" or "thinking of you" while looking at a kitty that had just broken a pot of flowers.  So, I chose the "Feel Better Friend" from a PTI set I had.  What better way to say, when things go wrong, keep your head up!

Anyway, I love how the sponged ink looks around the images to create the sky and grass!  I added just a touch of sparkle to the flowers to finish it off.  I'm not sure of the brand paper, as it was part of a RAK from a fellow stamper, but I just LOVE it!

Happiness is Homemade

Today I'm sharing a card that I made using Flourishes LLC set called "Fresh Baked", (soooo sad that this amazing stamp company went out of business).

I made this card for one of my favorite Aunts to say thank  you.  She is busy crocheting a bunch of her special dishcloths for me, I can't wait to receive them as  I love homemade gifts.  Believe it or not, these dishrags make me actually want to do dishes, haha.  Not really.

This card is an A2 size, on sturdy white cardstock with Echo Park Splendid Summer background paper.  The apron and sentiment are both from the Fresh Baked set and then of course, Copic colored! I can't wait to use these stamps on some christmas cards this year!

Happy Tuesday everyone!
